What are your family’s favorite duos? Cookies and milk? Bacon and eggs? Mac and cheese? What about Families & Faith? It’s a faith formation program designed to bring families and our Catholic faith together to build community and celebrate Catholic life.
How does it work? Parents and children attend a meeting once a month led by other parish families to discuss one chapter of the book. This year’s topic is Christian Prayer. Parents are given a background and understanding of the chapter during class so they can teach the remainder of the lesson at home through readings, games, crafts, and other activities with materials provided by the program. Parents can select activities based on their child’s interests and ages.
Who it is for? This program is for families with children in grades 1 through 7. Younger siblings are welcome to attend. Participating in this program will fulfill you child's faith formation requirements for the year. For families with a child in grade 2, additional at home or in-person teaching is required to cover sacramental preparation.
When is it? Families attend the 10 am Mass together at Holy Cross and then go to the Great Room in the Parish Center for 1 hour of teaching. The program runs from September through May.
Benefits of the program: It’s great for families that like the convenience of teaching at their own pace/schedule and for larger families with children in multiple grades.
When does it start? The first class is Sunday, September 29th.

What other families are saying: "I actually feel like it helped us all grow as a family. We were more engaging and having more discussions with the lessons at home. They were perfectly suited for all of us."
"I loved how engaging and welcoming everyone is."
"Families and Faith is a family-based catechesis program that empowers parents to teach the faith to their children. Parents and children attend a monthly workshop led by catechists from the parish. Then, parents teach the remaining lessons at home to their children through age-appropriate readings, games, crafts, and other activities with materials provided by the program. This program is great for busy families that like the convenience of teaching at their own pace/schedule, and larger families with children in multiple grades.
Once a month, Families & Faith participants celebrate Mass together at 10:00am, and directly after Mass attend a workshop until 12:15pm. Throughout the remainder of the month, families will spend an additional 1 to 1.5 hours on parent-led lessons at home.
Participating in this program will fulfill your child's faith formation requirements for the year; unless they are in grade 2, in which case additional teaching is required to cover sacramental preparation. Parents can cover this at home or your child can attend traditional 2nd grade faith formation in addition to Families & Faith.
